Streacom BC1 Mini v2

BC1 Mini v2 is widely considered the best open testbench for ITX. It features the familiar design and form factor of the original BC1 Mini. It has however been re-designed to be more environmentally friendly, robust and functional. The BC1 Mini v2 is available for purchase via QuietPC, Streacom, and multiple other sources.

The BC1 Mini V2 features improved rubber feet, which are larger and closer to the edges for better stability. One welcome change over the v1, is the inclusion of two 12mm vandal switch mounting points. The power supply can now be mounted on both left and right side of the bench with v2. However, most power supplies will require PSU spacers, such as Corsair SF series, in order to offset the power supply for compatibility reasons. Some other changes include improved storage and assembly procedure, more versatile brackets, new screws, more robust build and the new packaging that also contributes to planting more trees. There are no physical instructions are included with BC1, as Streacom has opted for a modern and environmental approach, using digital PDF only. Instructions can be found here.

CONCLUSION

The BC1 Mini v2 is masterpiece in size, build quality and engineering. The anodised finish is superb.

It’s is however very unfortunate that Streacom is still yet to include the PSU spacers out of the box and that these still need to be purchased separately years after release.
