NOISE
SilverStone’s Extreme 850R is noticable quieter in the 600~800W range vs. the best last-gen SFX power supply: Corsair SF750. More on that soon…
REVIEW
SilverStone currently has the best 850W SFX power supply available with platinum rating, quiet operation and ATX 3.0 compatability.
The 850R 12VHPWR cable is limited to 450W. 1000W is the recommended minimum requirement to deliver full 600W 12VHPWR connection as recommended by SilverStone & CableMod.
850R SFX includes 2x individual 8-PIN ESP cables, we would have preferenced 2x individual 8-PIN PCIe cables out of the box instead. Thankfully, the 2nd EPS connection can be used for PCIe, but requires sourcing an additional compatabile PCIe cable, if your GPU requires 3x 8-PIN’s.

We suggest CableMod’s configurator for custom cables. Its worth noting that the 850R SFX does not use the same cable pinout as the SX1000 for those with existing cables.
